Placeholder artworkThe Goon Gang began as several separate plans to rob the same warehouse on the same night. Each participant believed the job would establish a reputation. Each had selected a dramatic entrance. None had considered how difficult a dramatic entrance becomes when someone else is already trying to fit through it from the opposite direction.
Their Xenoverse group origin is a small catastrophe of duplicated confidence. They do not unite around a noble cause or a shared prophecy. They unite because every surviving witness knows enough about the others to make working separately socially inconvenient for the foreseeable future.
A committee is a gang that has not yet admitted which member forgot the rope.

Chapter 01
The target everybody discovered first
The warehouse stored festival supplies: metal fittings, banners, preserved food, and locked boxes rumoured to contain payment for performers. Its night guard spent long intervals at a nearby tea stall. Several ambitious opportunists noticed this independently and interpreted the discovery as proof of unusual strategic insight.
One planned to enter through the roof. Another selected a drainage opening. A third intended to impersonate a delivery worker. Others waited to intercept the loot outside, confident that letting somebody else perform the difficult part demonstrated superior intelligence. Each plan omitted a different essential item. The roof needed a ladder. The drain needed clearing. The delivery disguise needed a cart. By dusk, the alley contained a remarkable concentration of leadership and almost none of the equipment required to make leadership relevant. The guard returned early because the tea stall had closed. This development was absent from every plan, despite being entirely ordinary.

The first meeting takes place horizontally
The roof climber borrowed a stack of crates belonging to the false delivery worker. The stack shifted. The climber landed beside the drain entrance just as its occupant emerged covered in stale water. A lookout shouted a warning intended for one accomplice and received irritated replies from three strangers.
The guard found them arguing over whose operation had been compromised. Each attempted to identify the others as suspicious outsiders. The delivery worker produced a forged order with yesterday’s date. The guard read it twice, then asked where the cart was. Nobody answered because a loose roof tile had begun sliding above them with the slow inevitability of an additional witness approaching the stand. It struck an empty barrel. The noise brought the warehouse keeper, two neighbours, and a festival organizer whose supplies were now scattered around the alley. The prospective criminals had successfully assembled an audience before acquiring anything worth displaying.

A detention with competing explanations
The keeper confined them in an empty storage room while the neighbours fetched help. Inside, each declared the failure somebody else’s responsibility. The roof climber blamed the crates. The drain crawler blamed the shouting. The lookout explained that coordination had been impossible without clear command. Several volunteers immediately offered to provide it.
The argument continued until they noticed water entering beneath the door. A damaged pipe above the room had been loosened by the fallen tile. The keeper, outside, was busy inspecting the paperwork. Their confinement was about to acquire a dampness nobody could attribute to another person quickly enough to remain dry. They tried the door together for the first time. It held. Then the drain crawler recognized the pipe’s route and the delivery worker found a maintenance hatch behind stacked boards. Useful information appeared only after the speeches stopped, an observation the group would later remember with considerable reluctance during organizational disputes.

The escape that becomes paid work
They opened the hatch, reached the pipe, and reduced the leak before it spoiled the festival stock. The effort required several tasks performed at once: hold a support, move crates, find a clamp, keep the lowest opening clear. Nobody could complete it alone. Nobody had time to explain why this made them the natural leader.
The keeper found them emerging from the maintenance passage and offered a choice: help restore the damage under supervision or continue the conversation with the arriving watch. They chose work. By morning the warehouse was dry, the supplies were counted, and the locked boxes proved to contain printed programmes rather than wages. Their grand target had been a collection of seating instructions. The organizer paid a small amount for extra labour after deducting the broken tile. The gang’s first earnings therefore came from repairing a failed theft of something nobody had actually wanted. As founding legends go, it required careful editing before being told to strangers.

The gang agrees on one thing
They stayed together because the night had revealed complementary skills beneath the noise. They also stayed together because each wanted to supervise how the story was told. The name Goon Gang came from the keeper’s description of the people he found in the alley. Reclaiming it cost nothing, which suited their financial position.
In the Toxic Goblin Xenoverse, the group operates through a mixture of improvised competence and recurring argument. Its members can solve a practical problem when ego is given a task too small to obstruct the others. Trouble returns whenever a simple job offers the possibility of a grand title.
Before every expedition, somebody asks who brought the ladder. The question applies even when no ladder is needed. It means: which obvious thing have we all assumed somebody else handled? The answer is usually insulting. Occasionally it prevents disaster. The Goon Gang considers both outcomes useful, though it charges differently depending on which one the client requested.
