Pissant Goblins and the Runt faction

A goblin made of machinery and a goblin lurking in a drainage tunnel may belong to very different species. A Runt standing beside either of them may belong to the same species as its neighbor—and still belong to a different faction.

Welcome to the Toxic Goblin Xenoverse, an original fictional setting where industrial ruins, scavenged technology, swamp magic and goblin grudges share the same territory. This bestiary introduces twelve entries from the lore archive and explains what separates their bodies, behavior and place in the world.

Species, creatures and factions

The archive contains more than goblin species. Bog Hags and Trolls have their own creature entries. Runts are a faction assembled from the outcasts of different species. Keeping those distinctions matters: a name can tell you what a creature is, or it can tell you who has rejected it.

The goblin species

Black Goblins thrive where privacy is difficult to protect. Their dark hides, excellent hearing and sharp awareness make them effective scouts, spies and informants. They are also shameless snoops. In a Black Goblin's world, a closed door tends to create more curiosity than respect.

Bulbi Goblins are recognizable by their oversized bulbous noses. Their stranger distinction is their ability to produce hybrid offspring across species in the Xenoverse. That trait gives them an unusual place in the setting's tangled lineages.

Goblin Slugs leave evidence of their presence on almost everything they touch. Their bodies produce a persistent protective slime, turning dens and possessions into damp, greasy territory. They are crafty creatures with an intense fascination for humans and remarkably poor manners.

Hybrid Goblins combine recognizable goblin traits with a more humanoid build. Their appearances vary widely, as do their inherited features. Their adaptability makes them especially comfortable around human machines, commerce and infrastructure, including the Grope N Go truck-stop network.

Pissant Goblins specialize in making ordinary systems fail at inconvenient moments. Utility corridors, drains and boiler rooms offer shelter, supplies and plenty of opportunities for sabotage. Their colonies are called grumbles. Read the Pissant Goblin profile.

Pork Goblins occupy the heavy end of goblin society. Porcine faces, massive frames and thick hides make them imposing at close range. They work as haulers, salvagers, brewers, mechanics and enforcers, favoring equipment built to survive substantial punishment.

Robo Goblins are fully mechanized, but the consciousness inside the armor remains goblin. Replaceable parts make them difficult to put out of action. Their constant urge to modify machinery also makes them useful engineers—and a questionable choice to leave unsupervised beside unfamiliar equipment.

Sauvé Goblins work through attention, timing and persuasion. They read people closely, cultivate useful relationships and manipulate social situations. Unlike species associated with one distinctive body shape, Sauvé Goblins are identified chiefly by their behavior.

Wisp Goblins are quiet, angular creatures with a demonic appearance. Green energy called Wispfire glows within and around them. Their lore places them near ruined sectors, dead forests and dimensional fractures; the precise explanation for their nature remains unresolved.

Beyond goblin species

Bog Hags are exclusively female magic users associated with swamps and beauty-stealing glamour. Their goblin entourages scout, steal and help execute their schemes. A group of goblins acting with unusual coordination can be a clue that a hag is nearby.

Trolls are large, territorial predators with enormous appetites. Their strength and size distinguish them from goblins that depend more heavily on tricks or numbers. Both male and female Trolls appear in the archive.

Runts can come from different species. What unites them is rejection, survival and the faction they form afterward. A mechanical Runt and a Hybrid Runt need not share anatomy or abilities. Read why Runt Goblins are a faction.

Where to start

For industrial mischief, begin with Pissant Goblins. For machines and improvisation, look to Robo Goblins. For the difference between ancestry and allegiance, start with the Runts.

The bestiary follows Toxic Goblin's own lore. Familiar fantasy names here describe this Xenoverse's versions of those creatures.
