Runt Goblins are not a separate species. They are a faction formed by the undersized, unwanted and rejected members of different goblin populations in Toxic Goblin's fictional Xenoverse.
Their shared history matters more than a shared body type. One Runt may be mechanical. Another may be a small Hybrid or an undersized Pork Goblin. The faction brings those differences together under a familiar grievance: somebody else decided they did not belong.
What makes a goblin a Runt?
The source lore describes Runts as outcasts pushed to the bottom of their original communities. Small size, weakness or unusual traits can make them targets for ridicule and exclusion.
Being short alone does not describe the entire faction. Their defining story is rejection followed by association with other rejects. Previous lineage becomes less important once they find a place among the Runts.
Do all Runts look alike?
No. Runts inherit the appearances and abilities of their original species. A Runt from a mechanical lineage can differ radically from one with a biological body.
Both male and female Runts exist. Size varies, equipment varies and no single set of features can reliably identify every member. Meeting one gives an incomplete picture of the faction.
How do Runts survive?
Numbers, persistence and access to overlooked spaces compensate for a lack of individual strength. Runts swarm, distract, scavenge and sabotage. Vents, tunnels and gaps in larger structures let them move where bulkier goblins cannot.
They have little reason to favor a fair fight against an opponent who already benefits from size and status. Their survival depends on making the encounter inconvenient for somebody else.
Where do they settle?
Runt communities occupy forgotten parts of existing infrastructure: spaces under factories, behind walls, beneath arenas and inside abandoned structures. A small refuge can develop into a colony while the occupants above remain unaware of it.
Their settlements reflect the resources they can obtain and the abilities of the members living there. Different groups need not have identical tools, defenses or weaknesses.
How does the faction relate to goblin species?
A species profile explains ancestry, physical traits and characteristic behavior. The Runt faction profile explains a social identity that can cross those boundaries.
For example, a Pissant Goblin can retain its species traits while joining the Runts. Robo, Hybrid and Pork Goblin origins can likewise appear within the faction.
That is why Runts belong alongside the species guide without being counted as another species. The Xenoverse bestiary separates these classifications.
Why do other goblins underestimate them?
Runts have little individual status. Other factions can dismiss their small bodies and meager possessions while overlooking what a persistent group can accomplish.
Their role in the Xenoverse is the survival of the rejected: a faction whose diversity comes directly from the communities that excluded its members. Their greatest advantage is often that nobody considers them a serious problem until there are too many to ignore.
