The breach was never an accident.

The Xenoverse did not appear overnight. It grew below the surface—tunnel by tunnel, rumor by rumor—until the old world finally noticed the teeth beneath its feet.

When the first expedition forced open the temple gate, it gave the goblins a path outward and the curious a path in. The Hive calls that moment the Breach. Everyone else calls it the beginning of the end.

Recorded history

How the tunnels opened

  1. 01Era 00

    Before the Breach

The old world dismissed goblins as campfire stories. Beneath its cities, the first tunnels were already connecting.

  2. 02Era 01

    The First Raid

A salvage crew opened a sealed gate and discovered the Xenoverse staring back. Nothing that crossed the threshold returned unchanged.

  3. 03Era 02

    Rise of the Hive

Scattered clans learned to move as one network. Information became currency, territory became theatre, and the Hive never slept again.

  4. 04Current

    The Open Door

The boundary is unstable. Raiders, archivists, and opportunists now enter daily—each convinced they will be the exception.

Creatures of the Xenoverse

11 species / 1 faction / 12 records
01Species / Black Goblin VariantBlack GoblinPredatory cunning, shameless curiosity, secrets and scandalOpen file
Variants
Male and female
Habitat
Nocturnal districts, hidden passages, black markets
Threat
High

Black Goblins are wiry, dark-skinned goblinoids whose charcoal hides, sharp hearing, oversized ears and long-fingered silhouettes make them natural nocturnal infiltrators. They thrive anywhere secrecy, disorder and questionable decisions converge.

They are notorious lurkers, snoops and collectors of scandal. Privacy is treated as an obstacle, warning signs as invitations, and shame as a concept other species invented. That audacity makes them effective spies, scavengers, informants and black-market intermediaries.

Both male and female Black Goblins share the same boundary-breaking curiosity. Other goblins mock their behavior in public, then quietly hire them whenever a job requires somebody willing to enter a forbidden place and return with the truth.

Field note

If you can see a Black Goblin, there is probably another one somewhere you cannot.

02Species / Swamp Witch / Arcane PredatorBog HagSwamp magic, goblin entourages, human capture and beauty theftOpen file
Variants
Exclusively female
Habitat
Bogs, drowned forests, ruins and marshlands
Threat
Extreme

The Bog Hag is one of the Xenoverse’s oldest magic-using predators. She may be solitary by nature, but never appears alone for long: scouts, thieves, runts and swamp vermin gather around every established hag until she commands a filthy, organized entourage.

Bog Hags capture humans alive and use potions, glamour and parasitic rituals to steal fragments of youth, vitality and beauty. The borrowed transformation always decays, forcing the oldest hags to repeat the cycle across centuries.

At the height of a glamour, a Bog Hag can appear disturbingly human while retaining the calculating predator beneath. Her goblins provide traps and manpower; she provides magic and direction.

Field note

Never assume the beautiful woman standing alone in a bog needs rescuing. Count the goblins first.

03Species / Goblinus bulbosusBulbi GoblinBulbous noses, cross-species compatibility and rapid adaptationOpen file
Variants
Male and female
Habitat
Widespread; markets, portals and outsider settlements
Threat
High

Bulbi Goblins are immediately recognizable by enormous bulbous noses that seem to enter a room before the rest of the goblin. Their size, coloration and temperament vary wildly, from squat scavengers to enormous heavy-bodied specimens.

The Bulbi is a biological anomaly with near-universal compatibility across reproductive species. Its bloodlines have produced unpredictable hybrids throughout the Xenoverse, with a particular fixation on human populations and the traits they introduce.

Some scholars believe Bulbis are not merely another variant but a biological bridge species—an engine that absorbs traits from across the Xenoverse and continuously produces new branches of goblin evolution.

Field note

A Bulbi staring at you is normal. A Bulbi producing a family tree is considerably worse.

04Species / Limax GoblinoidGoblin SlugProtective slime, foul manners and an intense human fascinationOpen file
Variants
Male and female
Habitat
Damp warrens, transit hubs, markets and human districts
Threat
Persistent

Goblin Slugs are hulking, damp-skinned creatures that coat themselves and everything nearby in thick protective slime. Their dens announce themselves through greasy tracks, inexplicable puddles and a sour swamp odor long before a Slug appears.

They possess an unusually intense fascination with humans. Courtship is replaced by staring, following, invading personal space and presenting gifts whose value makes sense only inside Slug society.

Despite their revolting reputation, Goblin Slugs are crafty and socially perceptive. They are exceptionally good at discovering what makes another creature uncomfortable—and consider that information useful.

Field note

Never ask a Goblin Slug why its hands are wet.

05Species / Goblinus mixtusHybrid GoblinHumanoid adaptability, machinery and cultural infiltrationOpen file
Variants
Male and female
Habitat
Truck stops, border settlements and industrial ruins
Threat
Unpredictable

Hybrid Goblins combine classic goblin traits with taller, more humanlike frames. No standard Hybrid exists: height, skin tone, facial structure and severity of goblin features vary more between bloodlines than between sexes.

They learn human machines, language, technology and social behavior with disturbing speed. Hybrids turn gas stations into goblin markets, garages into fortified workshops and roadside businesses into recruitment centers.

Purist clans distrust them, while practical clans employ them as mechanics, scouts, smugglers, traders and translators wherever the Xenoverse collides with modern civilization.

Field note

Never assume the green one does not understand you.

06Species / Goblinus pissantisPissant GoblinPetty sabotage, territorial marking and stolen propertyOpen file
Variants
Male and female
Habitat
Maintenance tunnels, alleys and industrial infrastructure
Threat
Individually low / operationally severe

Pissant Goblins are squat, greasy and perpetually look as though they know exactly what they did. Their intelligence is devoted to scavenging, territorial disputes and making somebody else’s day worse.

They settle beneath civilized places: drains, loading docks, utility corridors and boiler rooms. A colony often explains missing tools, clogged systems, mechanical failures and handwritten insults appearing in impossible places.

Loose colonies called grumbles function through temporary authority, constant arguments and decades-long grudges. A Pissant rarely destroys something outright when loosening one bolt will create more confusion six hours later.

07Species / Heavy GoblinoidPork GoblinPorcine features, enormous builds and extreme durabilityOpen file
Variants
Male and female
Habitat
Industrial warrens, scrapyards, slaughter districts and camps
Threat
High at close range

Pork Goblins are among the Xenoverse’s largest goblin species. Thick leathery hides, dense musculature, porcine faces and tremendous mass let them absorb punishment that would flatten smaller goblins.

They are legendary consumers of food, drink, loot, machinery and territory. Their settlements favor reinforced industrial ruins with floors and doors capable of surviving the inhabitants.

Territorial and stubborn, Pork Goblins nevertheless make excellent mechanics, salvagers, brewers, haulers and heavy-equipment operators. Their craftsmanship is grotesquely overbuilt and their respect must usually be earned through persistence.

Extreme strengthDense musculatureIndustrial craftTerritorial aggressionHigh durability
Field note

When the little goblins need something lifted, broken or forcibly relocated, they find a Pork Goblin.

08Species / Goblinus mechanicaRobo GoblinMechanical bodies, persistent goblin consciousness and compulsive upgradesOpen file
Variants
Male and female chassis
Habitat
Factories, workshops, scrapyards and security installations
Threat
Four marks

Nobody knows whether Robo Goblins are goblins that became machines or machines that became goblins. Beneath every armored chassis, however, is a genuine goblin consciousness with grudges, loyalties and terrible impulse control.

No two remain factory-standard. They rebuild themselves with scavenged armor, stolen electronics and questionable aftermarket components, replacing damaged limbs and returning from incidents that should have left nothing operational.

Robo Goblins serve as mechanics, engineers, security units, pit crews and heavy-duty troublemakers. Their greatest weakness is not corrosion or depleted power—it is the irresistible possibility of another upgrade.

Replaceable componentsMechanical strengthEngineering skillIndustrial survivalCompulsive modification
Field note

If the eyes are still glowing, the problem is not over.

09Faction / Cross-Species FactionRunt GoblinsOutcasts, swarm tactics, sabotage and monumental grudgesOpen file
Variants
All species; male and female
Habitat
Vents, abandoned infrastructure and forgotten city layers
Threat
Low alone / severe collectively

Runts are not a species. They are the smallest, weakest, strangest or otherwise unwanted specimens discarded by every goblin lineage in the Xenoverse. Previous bloodline matters far less once a reject joins the faction.

A Runt rarely wins a fair fight, so Runts reject the premise. They swarm, distract, steal, sabotage and move through vents or machinery that larger creatures cannot reach.

Their shared culture is built on memory and resentment. What begins as three unwanted goblins in a maintenance tunnel can become an underground colony before the civilization above notices.

Cross-species membershipSwarm tacticsSabotageVent accessCollective survival
Field note

Never confuse the smallest goblin in the room with the least dangerous.

10Species / Social PredatorSauvé GoblinCharm, captivation, manipulation and infiltrationOpen file
Variants
Male and female
Habitat
Markets, clubs, offices, parties and luxury compounds
Threat
Socially extreme

Sauvé Goblins are dangerous because they understand that charm opens doors brute force cannot. They study posture, vanity, insecurity, desire and ambition until they can tell a target exactly what that person wants to hear.

A Sauvé begins with attention: a compliment, a favor, an introduction or a secret shared at the perfect moment. Fascination grows until the target keeps returning voluntarily—and often believes the entire arrangement was their own idea.

Goblin clans prize them as negotiators, spies, recruiters, fixers and social engineers. Everybody appreciates having a Sauvé working for them; nobody knows exactly when that stops being true.

Field note

If a Sauvé Goblin is chasing you, run. If it stops chasing you, run faster.

11Species / Apex Troll SpeciesTrollVoracious appetite, territorial hunting and overwhelming strengthOpen file
Variants
Male and female
Habitat
Caves, swamps, ruined settlements and forest hollows
Threat
Extreme

Trolls are among the largest humanoid predators in the Xenoverse. Massive frames, coarse hides, oversized claws and mouths built for consumption make them a close-range threat to almost anything alive.

Where goblins rely on numbers and schemes, Trolls stalk, surround, intimidate and overpower. A solitary specimen can close a road; a roaming group can erase an entire safe route from local maps.

Older Trolls are patient hunters with long memories. Escaping one encounter does not mean the hunt has ended, and primitive appearance should never be mistaken for stupidity.

Field note

If you hear several sets of heavy breathing in the woods, you already waited too long.

12Species / Demonic Goblinoid / Wisp-TouchedWisp GoblinWispfire, silent stalking and reality distortionOpen file
Variants
Male and female
Habitat
Thin places, dead forests, ruined sectors and dimensional fractures
Threat
Extreme

Wisp Goblins resemble creatures assembled from charred wood, exposed bone, hardened sinew and thorn-like growths. Toxic-green energy burns behind their eyes and escapes through cracks in their bodies.

They are unnervingly quiet, capable of remaining motionless for hours before moving with startling speed. Wisps favor the edge of useful light, security cameras and doorways, turning simple observation into a deliberate threat display.

Their internal Wispfire can illuminate without heat, disrupt electronics and leave temporary trails hanging in the air. Whether the species is possessed, demonic or simply shaped by broken reality remains unresolved.

Field note

If two green lights begin moving toward you, whether they are eyes is no longer academically important.
