Placeholder artworkJinxy Jenkins acquired the title Blizzard Baddie during a snowstorm that lasted twenty minutes and inconvenienced mostly merchants. She stole a locked strongbox, vanished through the white streets, and allowed the account to become considerably more mountainous in the telling. By the third version, she could apparently hear avalanches before they happened.
The Frostborn Rogue was the next title, added by a fence who wanted to improve her rates. Jinxy liked both. Her origin story turns on what happened when she accepted a job that required her to deserve them. The actual mountain was waiting, and it had heard none of the promotional material.
The mountain does not care how good your nickname looks on a wanted notice.

Chapter 01
The job above the tree line
A merchant wanted a sealed case recovered from a ruined weather station. He said the route was dangerous only to the inexperienced. Jinxy recognized the insult as a sales technique and accepted anyway, which is how a technique earns its reputation. She bought a dramatic cloak instead of a second pair of dry gloves.
The lower path was easy. She passed a shepherd descending with goats and dismissed his warning about the upper ridge. He asked whether she knew the shelter markers. She replied that she made her own routes. He looked at the cloak, then at the sky, and said the goats did too. Jinxy assumed he was comparing their independence. Later she would consider other possibilities. By afternoon, the station appeared through drifting snow, close enough to encourage speed and far enough away to punish it. She reached the door sweating, triumphant, and already making a mistake the cold could use.

A theft with an inconvenient audience
The case sat inside a cabinet beside a broken instrument rack. Goblins had occupied the station, using its walls as a windbreak and its charts as bedding. Jinxy announced that she had come for property stolen from the merchant. A goblin pointed to a receipt attached to the case. The merchant had sold it, then apparently reconsidered the price.
She could have left. Instead she decided that recovering the case would make the legal details somebody else’s problem. She distracted the goblins with a story about patrols below, took the case, and slipped out through a maintenance hatch. The escape was beautifully executed until the hatch closed behind her and she realized the main path had vanished. Wind flattened every landmark. The cloak snapped around her legs like an argument she could not win. Behind the wall, the goblins began discussing whether the famous snow expert would be back before their soup finished warming.

Frostborn, face-first
Jinxy chose the ridge by instinct. Her instinct led her into a drift deep enough to swallow the lower half of her legend. She struggled free, lost a glove, and dropped the case into a crevice she could not safely reach. The job had now achieved the unusual distinction of being both stolen and undeliverable.
Cold reduced her world to small tasks. Move a hand. Find the wall. Stop pretending that the next few steps would restore the plan. She followed a faint bell and found a goat shelter beneath an overhang. The shepherd had left feed there for strays. Jinxy crawled inside beside an animal that regarded her arrival as a regrettable decline in standards. She wrapped herself in discarded sacking and waited. There was no audience to rescue the moment with a joke. The Blizzard Baddie smelled of goat, had one wet glove, and was alive chiefly because someone else had prepared for ordinary misfortune.

The return without the case
When visibility improved, she followed the shelter markers back to the station. The goblins let her in after she admitted that the case was gone. They made her say where. Then they made her repeat why. The soup had become very good by the time her account stopped trying to flatter her decisions.
Recovering the case required local knowledge and a rope. Jinxy supplied labour and a promise to return the merchant’s advance. The goblins supplied the route. She discovered that their apparently careless camp contained dry stores, marked exits, and layers of preparation she had mistaken for clutter. They were not immune to winter. They respected it enough to remain alive. When they retrieved the case, she carried it back to the station without attempting a second theft. The merchant would be furious. For once, his feelings appeared manageable compared with the alternatives she had recently investigated at close range.

A rogue with a weather eye
Jinxy Jenkins kept her titles. Abandoning them would have required explaining too much to people she disliked. But the woman beneath them changed her equipment, her habits, and the amount of silence she allowed before accepting a dangerous job. She learned snow routes from people who had no interest in being called legendary.
In the Xenoverse, Frostborn Rogue comes to mean someone shaped by cold rather than exempt from it. Jinxy remains vain enough to enjoy a wanted notice and slippery enough to profit from its exaggerations. She also knows where the shelters are and carries spare gloves, including a pair she will lend while insulting the borrower.
A small bell hangs inside her pack. Asked whether it warns of avalanches, she says it depends on the goat. Most listeners assume this is mysterious. Jinxy permits the misunderstanding. Her reputation still needs feeding, but she no longer lets it choose the route when the sky begins to close.
